Say hello to Butterscotch Pudding

This is definitely a flavor that everyone who has tasted just loves, and when you consider that it’s sugar-free, allergen-free, gluten-free and dairy-free, too, then butterscotch just got a whole lot healthier!

How Can You Make Butterscotch Healthier?

You could add in 2% milk and up the calories but if you prefer a plant-based option, you can also blend your butterscotch using a milk substitute such as oat, soy, coconut, rice, or almond.

Any of these can be used to whizz up the most tantalizingly tasty and quick and easy keto & ketogenic certified dessert that’s smooth and creamy and you guessed it, tastes just like real butterscotch!

What’s the difference between butterscotch and caramel?

Good question! And it’s not an uncommon one either.

When we were developing our latest flavor and deciding how to add even more variety to our allergen-free dessert range, it was a confectionary conundrum we came across and had to deliberate. We carried out several taste challenges in the Simply Delish master kitchen & with our key influencers to make sure our butterscotch was just perfect.

Both are normally sugar-based concoctions. The key difference is that caramel is made with granulated white sugar while butterscotch gets its trademark taste and rich, deep color from brown sugar.

Vanilla is a common addition to both, as is a pinch of sea salt, which provides that perfect blend of sweet and savory that is just so delicious. Anything with a pinch of sea salt gets our taste buds all fired up.

If butterscotch is sugar, how can Simply Delish butterscotch be healthy?

Another good question, and thanks for asking!

Simply Delish natural butterscotch flavored pudding is made with zero sugar, only natural flavors, colors and sweetener and no artificial ingredients, preservatives or additives.

We are pretty sure already that butterscotch will come out on top!

Where did butterscotch originate from?

Another little-known fact for you today!

Did you know that the original butterscotch can be traced back to Doncaster, a town in Yorkshire in the United Kingdom?

We have Samuel Parkinson, a master confectioner, to thank, who is credited with first experimenting with a butterscotch-flavored hard candy back in 1817. This tasty treat was given the royal seal of approval, no less! So if you also love butterscotch, you are in the most rarified, refined, and regal of company!

While some say that the scotch element comes from the word “scorched” (the process used to burn the sugar), others claim it’s down to the flavor having Scottish origins. Despite what the name might infer, we can confirm it does not contain any scotch! This is no boozy pudding! You are safe to serve it to the kids.
